A PERFECT accompaniment to a hearty soup!


  • 225g self-raising flour 

  • 1 tsp baking powder 

  • 75g grated cheese, a strong cheddar works well but a blue such as Stilton or Red Leicester is nice too 

  • 50ml Mountain Produce Cold Pressed Rapeseed Oil 

  • 125ml semi-skimmed milk 


  • Preheat the oven to 220°C, gas mark 7. 

  • Place the flour, baking powder and cheese in a bowl.

  • Mix in the oil and milk to form a slightly sticky dough. 

  • Divide into 8 equal pieces and roll into balls, the balls should be similar size and shape to cook evenly. 

  • Place the balls on a greased baking tray IN a flower shape, pressing down the top  slightly to flatten them out. 

  • Brush with milk.  

  • Bake in the centre of the oven  for 12-15 minutes until golden, let them cool slightly before enjoying warm with butter.
